VENUES
This stunning venue is the first interior designed by architect Jørn Utzon, who was the original architect for Sydney Opera House.
This dramatic new venue has Utzon’s signature features of natural timbers and finishes, and a specially designed 14-metre wide floor-to-ceiling, brightly coloured woollen tapestry – Utzon’s first decorative artwork.
The room features massive concrete structural beams which rise from the ground to the ceiling. They have been restored to their original beauty and reflect the light from the harbour producing an exquisite dappled effect on the beams. The room also has a magnificent and rare easterly view of Sydney Harbour.
Previously known as the Reception Hall, the room has been re-named in honour of the great architect.
Unlike other venues at Sydney Opera House, this space remained structurally intact after Utzon left the project in 1966. With its refurbishment, it is the only true Utzon interior at Sydney Opera House.
The Utzon Room is a multi-purpose venue with quality acoustics suitable for a range of events.
